Gloria Mynes

Gloria Frances Mynes, age 88, of 785 Sunset Hill, Covington, Virginia, and formerly of Clifton Forge, died on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at her residence.

Gloria was born on May 26, 1937 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Woodrow Clayton “Woody” Mynes and Elsie Angle Mynes. She was a retired seamstress for Halmode, and was active in her church life, both at First Assembly of God Church in Clifton Forge and Calvary Christian Church in Covington. She was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross and was a member of the Covington Ladies of the Moose Chapter 22.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Vernon H. “Rocky” Pendleton, Jr.; two sisters, Betty Harlow and Elizabeth Owens; a brother, Harold Mynes; and a great grandson, Edwin Jackie Gaines III.

She is survived by a daughter, Jeanie Hyler (Timmy) of Covington; a sister, Wanda Mundy of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Sammy Mynes (Bonnie) of Clifton Forge and Richard Mynes (Libby) of Covington; a granddaughter, Melinda Seay (Tony) of Covington; four great grandchildren, Martina Gaines, Preston Gaines, Tonie Gaines, and Edwin Gaines; a great great grandson, Liam King; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Mike Warren officiating. Following the service, her body will be cremated. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
