Leonard Howard Dawson

Leonard Howard Dawson, 89, of Amherst, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Born on April 4, 1936, in Madison Heights, he was the son of the late Leonard and Nellie Dawson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Dawson; and two sisters.

Leonard enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He had a genuine love for people and never met a stranger, greeting everyone he encountered with warmth and kindness. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a longtime member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Mike Dawson (Tonia); four nephews and a niece.

A graveside service celebrating his life will be conducted on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dr. Derik Hamby officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Leonard’s name to Randolph Memorial Baptist Church, 4246 S. Amherst Hwy, Madison Heights, VA 24572.
