John Wayne Lewis

John Wayne Lewis, age 77, of Danville, Virginia passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025 at UNC Chapel Hill. Mr. Lewis was born September 30, 1948 in Danville, Virginia to the late Jossie Harris Jones Lewis and the late Clarence Dodson Lewis. He was married to Mona Childress Lewis.

Mr. Lewis was owner of John W. Lewis Construction. He will always be remembered as a kind and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife of the residence, he is also survived by his children, Tammy Nunnally, Danny Lewis, and Kimberly Cobbs (Shannon); his grandchildren, Kristen Nunnally, Jonathan Nunnally, Josie Nunnally, Kalin Cobbs, Noah Cobbs, and Alina Cobbs; great grandchildren, Carter King, Mack Nunnally, Zoe Rippeto, Kayce Rippeto, and Ryann Nunnally; and his sister, Dora Seamster.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sisters, Catherine Haskins, Elsie Powell, and Ruth Merricks; and his brothers, Melvin Lewis, Bernard Lewis, Raymond Lewis, and Billy Lewis.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Service, Mt. Hermon Chapel with Pastor Rufus Cobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Danville, Virginia. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., also at Norris Funeral Service, Mt. Hermon Chapel.

At other times, the family will receive friends and family at the residence.
