Gai Thi Tran
Gai Thi Tran, 84, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on Thursday, November 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Gai was born in Huế, Vietnam on December 12, 1940; and immigrated with her family to Roanoke in 1990. She took up employment as a seamstress prior to retirement. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 52 years, Nguyen Van Tran.
She is survived by her six children and their families: Son Tran (Lanh), Huu Tran (Kim Yen), Ha Tran (Tuyen), Nhu Y Ly, Lam Tran (Ngoc Tu), and Ngoc Anh Tran (Christopher). She was a proud grandmother to her 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be held at the Simpson Funeral Home on 5160 Peters Creek Road in Roanoke with internment at the Mountain View Cemetery at 1401 Mountain View Road in Vinton. Services will be lead by Abbot Thich Chuc Do from the Phat Son Temple in Roanoke.

Tuesday December 2, 2025:
Buddhist Ceremony 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Visitation 12:00 - 2:00 pm
Visitation 5:00 - 6:00 pm
Buddhist Ceremony 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Visitation 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Wednesday December 3, 2025:
Visitation 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Closing Ceremony 11:00 am – 11:30 am, with procession following
Final ceremony at cemetery 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
