Sue Golden

May 26, 1936 - December 3, 2025

Norma Sue Martin Golden, known affectionately to all as Sue, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, in Pembroke, Virginia, at the age of 89. Born on May 26, 1936, in Giles County, Virginia, Sue was a beacon of light and joy to everyone she met. Her vivacious spirit and unwavering strength were evident throughout her entire life.

Sue was a proud Corncutter and proud graduate of the Pembroke High School Class of 1954. Her dedication to her education was a testament to her character, a foundation she built upon throughout her life. Sue's work ethic shone brightly during her 48-year tenure with the United States Air Force OSI. Her commitment to excellence didn't stop there; she also served as an Office Manager for Housing Projects, where her meticulous nature and warmth made her a beloved figure.

Family was the cornerstone of Sue's life. She was a devoted mother to her sons Steve, Tim (and wife Sherrie), and Marc, a doting grandmother to Michael. Her love for her family was immeasurable and she instilled in them values of loyalty, kindness, and perseverance. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews, and her sweet friends the "lunch ladies". Sue was preceded in death by her parents, John Martin and Clora Cruise Martin, as well as her siblings Ruth Williams, Christine Martin, Lois Eaton, John Martin, Earl Martin, Mary Preston Williams, William Donald Martin, and Peggy Robertson.

Sue's passions outside of work and family were numerous. A die-hard fan of the Washington Redskins, she never missed a game and her enthusiasm for the team was infectious. Her love for Elvis was equally fervent, and his music was the soundtrack to many family gatherings. Sue was also an avid shopper, a master of word puzzles, and had a special place in her heart for her furbabies, who provided her with endless joy and companionship.

Final arrangements are to be made and an announcement of service will be made at a later time. A guestbook is available to send condolences to the family by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com. The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Golden family.
