Robert Glen Moon

Robert Glen “Bobby” Moon, 87, of Rustburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and the grace of his Lord.

Born in Lynchburg on May 3, 1938, he was the son of the late Edward James Moon and Dorothy Barksdale Moon.

Bobby was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ann Marie Watts Moon; two daughters, Robin M. Carroll and Renee M. Wood; his brother, Jim “Sonny” Moon and his grandson, Chris McKenna.

Bobby is survived by his daughter, Rhonda M. Reynolds and her companion Lee; his son, Robert Glenn Moon, Jr. and wife Amy; as well as his cherished grandchildren— Jeremy Hudson, Shane McKenna, Stephanie McKenna, Tony Moon (Katrina), Heath McKenna (Kristy), Bronson Carroll, Colton Staton, Josh Moon (Laura), and Trevor Moon; his 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored and took great pride in, and his long-time friend, Bobby Sarver.

Bobby retired from Lynchburg Foundry after 37 years of dedicated service. He was a charter member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. Bobby was an avid sports fan and a loyal supporter of the Washington Redskins, Atlanta Braves and multiple NASCAR teams. Bobby’s faith, love for his family, and his work ethic were guiding lights throughout his life.

A service celebrating Bobby’s life and faith will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Pastor Rick Rasberry officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Thomas Road Baptist Church.

Bobby will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering faith, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him. His legacy of love and devotion to his family will continue to live on in their hearts forever.
