Lisa Ashby Shepherd, 62, passed away on December 7, 2025, in Penhook, Virginia. Born on January 13, 1963, Lisa's life was a quiet and steady presence within her community - a thread woven through years of shared moments and enduring bonds.She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Abigail Shepherd, and a cherished daughter to her mother, Shiree Ashby, both of whom she is survived by. Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Carroll Ashby; her sister, Donna Ashby; and her close companion, Susan Walker.Lisa found joy in life's simple pleasures - sunny days at the beach, heartfelt moments shared at church, and time spent with friends and family. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know her. Whether offering a listening ear or sharing a laugh over lunch, Lisa had a way of making others feel seen and valued.A dear friend to many, Lisa's presence brought comfort and light into the lives of those around her. Her memory will continue to live on through the love she gave so freely and the connections she nurtured throughout her life.Lisa's life was not loud in its ambitions, but it was rich in the quiet, enduring ways that matter: In the loyalty she offered freely, in the gentle constancy by which she measured her days, and in the love that moved from her to others like a slow, sure river finding its way home. And now that she has gone, the world she touched feels altered - thinner, perhaps - but still warmed by the echo of her presence.She departs this earth as she lived upon it: held by the same soil that welcomed her at her beginning, carried forward in the memories of those who remain. In that remembrance she endures, not as a shadow, but as a quiet light.Funeral services will be held at Snow Creek Christian Church, 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2025 with Pastor Scott Oliver officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A meal will be offered at the church following the burial.
