Steven Vess
Steven Lewis Vess, age 67, of 407 Tannery Road, Iron Gate, Virginia died on Friday, December 12, 2025 at his residence.
Steve was born on February 28, 1958 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Nelson Matthew Vess and Joyce Alice Nicely Vess. He was a retired foreman for Littleton & Associates Construction. He enjoyed following NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys football team, and was a hobby mechanic. He was of the Baptist faith. Steve loved his family, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by two brothers, Marion Vess and David Vess; and a sister, Betty Jean Vess Brown.
He is survived by is wife, Rebecca “Becky” Wells Vess of Iron Gate; a daughter, Nikki Vess (Nick Simpkins) and a son, Steve Vess, Jr. (Pauline), both of Clifton Forge; a sister, Mary Campbell (Bill) of Low Moor; two brothers, Dennis Vess (Diane) and Dale Vess (Betty Coleman), both of Covington; ten grandchildren, Dakota, Lexi, Destiny, Zoey, Olivia, Brody, Bentlee, Dylan, Elijah, and Nathan; four great grandchildren, Gunner, Gracie, Jamison, and Kingston; his father- and mother-in-law, Archie & Nancy Wells of Clifton Forge; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Rob Littleton and John Littleton and their families. The family would like to express their gratitude to Chris Fisher for his kindness and concern.
In keeping with his wishes, Steve’s body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home or anytime at the residence.
