Louise Maddox Bryant
Louise Mattox Bryant, 91, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully December 16th 2025.
Louise was the loving wife of the late Reverend Robert L. Bryant and cherished her family and her relationship with the Lord above all else.
The doting mother of seven children, Louise also found time for art, music, a career in nursing, and prolific volunteerism.
An avid painter and creator, Louise had fond memories of singing with a jazz ensemble in her younger years, was also a member of the Thomas Road Baptist Church choir where she performed in the Virginia Christmas Spectacular as part of the Living Christmas Tree for many years.
She built a career in nursing, and upon her retirement, volunteered with the American Red Cross, responding to national disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005 where she spent nearly a month in shelters helping those displaced and also in Joplin, Missouri in the aftermath of the Joplin E5 tornado in 2011. Louise's passion for helping others was evident in her everyday life, and she was known to open her home to anyone in need, always having food on the table and a song or prayer for every visitor.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Maddox and her daughter-in-law, Gloria Bryant.
Those left to cherish Louse's memory are her sons Robert Bryant of Elizabeth City, NC, Steven Bryant (Donna) of Athens, GA, Keith Bryant (Betty) of Lynchburg, VA, Jonathan Bryant of Lynchburg, VA, Kevin Bryant (Michelle) of Lynchburg, VA, and Chris Bryant (Tara) of Goode, VA. Louise leaves behind beloved grandchildren Ronda, Becky, Jessica, Brianna, Sebastian, Dylan, Wyatt, and Evan, as well as eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Eure officiating.
