Margaret Ann Stiff

May 10, 1946 - December 18, 2025

“I have fought a good fight;

I have finished my course,

I have kept the faith …

            ~II Timothy 4:7

Margaret Ann Stiff, daughter of the late Johnnie and Tillie Allen, born May 10, 1946 in Hampton Sydney, VA, departed this life December 18, 2025.  Preceding her in death are her brothers Johnnie, Jr., Alfonso and Larry Allen and sister Ida Mae Davis.  Now Margaret, a true believer is with them and the Lord as He promised.                        ~~ John 13:3

She was baptized at an early age at Mercy Seat Baptist Church, where she was a faithful servant for the Lord.  Margaret served on the Missionary, Programs, and Budget Auxiliaries until her health began to decline.  She had a loving heart, and would help everyone she could.  “NO” was rarely in her vocabulary.

Margaret received her education in Prince Edward County when education was hard to obtain.  She graduated from Robert R. Moton High School in 1968.  Margaret was employed at Armstrong Furniture Co. known as Thomasville where she retired after 30 years as a dedicated employee.  She worked as an office administrator to Forklift Operation.

On January 31, 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, William Edward Stiff, a devoted husband of 55 years.  William will “forever” cherish their life together.  During this union no children were born “but God” placed Jeffery Stiff and Tyrone Davis in their life and they loved those boys who are now men as their own.

Margaret loved cooking and shopping as she was known for her matching outfits she and her good friend Louise Davis bought.  Let’s not forget her fantastic potato salad.

She will be missed and her memories will be cherished by her mother-in-love Mrs. Mamie Stiff, one aunt Teresa Reid, one uncle Jimmy Smith, five sister-in-laws; Bernice Stiff Hackett, Stella Allen, Debra Allen, Doris Allen and Debra Stiff; three brother-in-laws, Carlton Stiff, Oliver Stiff and Julius Hackett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends whom she loved unconditionally and two special friends who she touched their hearts and they stayed close by her side, Brent “Soup” Lewis and Cynthia “nurse” Drew.

A funeral service for Mrs. Margaret Ann Stiff will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 12 noon at Mercy Seat Baptist Church, 8106 Abilene Road, Farmville, VA  23901.
