George W. Wells

George W. Wells, 89, passed away at his residence on December 19, 2025. George was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on February 8, 1936 to the late Effie Kendrick Wells and the late James Acree Wells. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Doris Rachel Yeatts Wells.

George was of the Christian Faith, and a devout and faithful member of The Church of Truth. He graduated from Lynchburg College and Appalachian State University with a Bachelor and Master of Art Degrees. He worked for many years as a school Administrator/ Assistant principal for the Pittsylvania County School System. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. George was an avid musician and accomplished Guitar and Mandolin player. He also loved collecting musical instruments, antiques, and phonograph records.

George is survived by a son; Chris Wells and wife Vrindar of Blairs, VA; two sisters; Virginia Herndon and Nadine Tyler; a brother; Jack Wells; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, George was predeceased by five brothers; James, Dennis, Emmett, Harold and Hassell Wells; and three sisters; Mary Marlowe, Elma Herndon, and Ruby Burge.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 1:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Joey Yeatts and Pastor Danny Wallace officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 12-1:00pm also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel.
