Roy Jay Colman

Roy Jay Colman, age 65, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025. 

Roy was born on January 26, 1960, in Washington, D.C., to the late Morris Edward Colman and Helen Elizabeth Burgess Colman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Bessie Elizabeth Colman and Diane Hacker; and his brother, Michael Colman. 

Roy was a Godly man whose faith was central to his life. He dearly loved his church family at Kearfott Memorial Baptist Church in Martinsville, where he found fellowship, purpose, and spiritual fulfillment. 

He is survived by his sisters, Linda Smith and Patricia Webber (Don); his sister-in-love, Shelby Colman; his brothers, Morris Edward Colman, Jr. and Ken Colman (Patty); and a host of nieces and nephews, including three special-needs children who were adopted because of Roy’s compassion and love. He is also survived by a special niece, Kathy Mitrione, and his devoted fur companion, Smalls.

The Colman family extends their deepest gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff at Edwards Adult Day Care Center of Martinsville for the exceptional love and support they provided. In the spirit of love and remembrance, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to Edwards Adult Day Care Center of Martinsville (431 Commonwealth Blvd E, Martinsville, VA 24112), so they may continue providing care and kindness to all who walk through their doors.
