Jewell Anne Stuart

November 6, 1947 - December 25, 2025

Jewell Anne Catron Stuart, age 78, of Pulaski, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day (December 25, 2025), with her two loving daughters by her side.

Born November 6, 1947, Jewell was the beloved daughter of Willard Choate Catron and Mary Marguerite Tarter. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Marguerite Tarter; her father, Willard Choate Catron; her beloved sister, Swanna Kaye Prillaman; and her devoted and loving husband, Marvin Eugene Stuart.

From an early age, Jewell was destined to shine. She took great pride in representing Pulaski County as Virginia Junior Miss in 1966 at the age of 18. She was crowned Miss Claytor Lake in 1964 and was crowned queen in fourteen additional pageants.

Her true passion was music. Jewell graduated from Longwood College with a Bachelor’s degree in music. There was not an instrument she could not play. Following college, she began her career as a music teacher at Jefferson School in Pulaski and later retired from Wythe County Public Schools. She was deeply loved by her students and touched many lives through music and education.

In addition to her teaching career, Jewell served as organist at First Dublin Presbyterian Church for 27 years, where her music was a source of comfort and joy to many.

Jewell was proud of her family and was one of the most caring, selfless people to know. She loved music, animals—especially her dogs—and spending time with her daughters. Above all, she loved her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Marguerite Stuart and Megan Anne Stuart; her niece, Amy Prillaman Cardwell (Bobby); her nephew, William Norman Prillaman (Sonya); her dear sister in Christ, Sara Lee Hanks; and many extended family members, cousins, and friends who loved her deeply.

A service to celebrate Jewell’s life will be held at Seagle Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Dublin Presbyterian Church ECO (PO Box 2027, Dublin, VA 24084), or loved ones may honor her memory in their own meaningful way. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the medical and hospice teams who cared for Jewell with compassion and dignity. She was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
