Ruth Lunsford Turner
Ruth Lunsford Turner, 92, of Virginia, went to her eternal home in the presence of her Lord on January 8, 2026. She was born on March 18, 1933. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who used her time and talents to care for others. She loved a big garden, a formidable sewing project, a kitchen table laden with food, and a house filled with family and friends. She served in ordinary moments in a way that made her life truly extraordinary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Radford Lunsford and Nellie Jane East Lunsford; her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Ivan Turner; her daughter, Rebecca Rose “Becky” Miller; and her son, Kenneth Lawrence Turner.
She is survived by her son, William Ivan Turner (Wanda); her daughter, Robin Walker (Mike); her grandchildren, Nathan Miller, Corrie Mooneyham, John Walker, Joey Walker, and Travis Turner; and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend special gratitude to Lyn, Kendra, Lottie, and Shaylee of Good Samaritan Hospice, as well as her personal caregivers, Melanie Mallen, Morgan Gray, and Christie Robertson, for their compassionate care for her, not just as a patient, but as a person.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home, Salem, with a funeral service to follow. Interment will take place at Sherwood Memorial Park. Pastor Brian Gordon of Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church will officiate.
