Dawn Michelle Handy-Murphy

Dawn Michelle Handy-Murphy, age 52, of Fieldale, Virginia, passed away on January 9, 2026. She was born on October 25, 1973, in Martinsville, Virginia and was the beloved daughter of James Odell and Jean Handy. Dawn was married to Larry Murphy and was a devoted mother to Joseph Ward (Faith) and Gavin Murphy, and a loving grandmother to Bentley, Wesley, and Emberley. 

Dawn was kind, loving, intelligent, funny, and strong-willed. She had a deep love for her animals—her dogs, Daisy and Saydi, and her cats, Kiki and Tangie—who brought her great comfort and joy. She enjoyed painting, watching her favorite TV shows, and above all, spending time with her family, which meant the world to her.

Dawn worked as a clerk at the post office for nine years, where she was known for her dedication and warm personality. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. 

A visitation for Dawn will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville, VA. A funeral service will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with immediate burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway, VA.
