John "Ny" Harvey Moore

John “Johnny” Harvey Moore Jr., 66, passed away at his residence on January 16, 2026. Johnny was born in Danville, VA on October 7, 1959 to the late Rachel Carlisle Moore and the late John Harvey Moore Sr.

Johnny was of the Christian Faith and a member of Grace Tabernacle in South Boston, VA. He was a proud and active member of the Sons of the Confederacy. He was an Avid Hunter and Outdoorsmen. Johnny worked for many years as a mechanic at Woodson’s Marathon and later worked in the maintenance department at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company previous to his retirement.

Johnny is survived by two daughters; Anastasia Szymkowski and husband Michael of Ft. Worth, TX and Michaela Moore of South Boston, VA; two sons; B.J. Reaves and wife Samantha of South Boston, VA and Zachary Reaves and wife Alison of Danville, VA; two sisters; June Hill and husband Mike of Danville, VA, and Cindy Hudgins and husband Jimmy of Axton, VA; 8 grandchildren; three nieces; Amanda E. Wyatt and husband Jason, Nicky Hudgins, and Courtland Hudgins; a great niece; Caroline Wyatt; and two special best friends; Ronnie Taylor and Raymond Burdette.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 1:30pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Matthew Wilmoth officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Danville, VA. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30-1:30pm also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA.
