James P. Allen

James P. Allen, Sr., 83, of Blairs, VA, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on January 21, 2026.

James was born on June 28, 1942, in Pittsylvania County to the late Ida Mae Wilson Allen and Willie Buck Allen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; Fred, Louis, Lonnie, Billy and Clarence Allen; and two sisters; Kathryn Williams and Helen Ann Scearce. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Morgan Nicole Yeatts.

James was faithfully and very happily married to the love of his life, Mary Ann Wilson Allen, for 60 beautiful years. He was of the Baptist Faith. James was a tobacco farmer his entire life and also worked for Dan River Mills for part of his life. He loved fishing with family and friends, playing and watching baseball, and watching NASCAR racing, but most of all, he loved and adored his family. He always said that family was everything and long as you had that, you were blessed beyond measure.

In addition to his wife, of the residence, he is survived by his daughter, Wanda Allen Yeatts, and sons, James P. Allen Jr. (Crystal), Darrell Wayne Allen (Jessica). He is also survived by two brothers, Donnie Allen (Patsy) and Maynard Allen (Lucy), one sister, Brenda Yeatts. He also has seven grandchildren; Lottie, Janie, Ashley, Angel, Isaiah, Ryder, and Kinslee; and five great grandchildren; Brayden, Khamdyn, Braelynn, Kai, and Micah.

A memorial and celebration of life will be held at a later date due to upcoming inclement weather. The family will receive friends and family at the residence.
