Howard C. Ferguson

Howard C. Ferguson, age 86 of Rocky Mount, passed away Friday, January 23, 2026. He was born September 15, 1939, a son of the late Walter Howard Ferguson and Lou Emma Greer Ferguson. Surviving are his wife of almost 67 years, Geraldine Grindstaff Ferguson; children, Rhonda F. Jones (Ricky), Eric H. Ferguson (Sue) and Monte C. Ferguson (Debbie); grandchildren, Morgan E. Ford (Josh), Nora A. Ferguson and Morgan Kittinger; great-grandchildren, Marcus F. Ford, Katherine V. Ford, Abel Wiseman and Daniel Wiseman; sister, Geneva F. Hodges; special niece, Valerie Brown; sister-in-law, Delphie A. Grindstaff; brother-in-law, Hugh C. Grindstaff (Sharon) ; numerous nieces, nephews.Howard retired from DuPont and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he served in many capacities including Deacon, Honorary Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was also a lifetime member and former Captain of Snow Creek Rescue Squad. Howard served as the Snow Creek Representative for the Franklin County Recreation Commission and Franklin County Social Services Board. He was also a veteran of the Virginia Army National Guard.Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2026 with Pastor Todd Barnes and Pastor John Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in the Grindstaff Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
