Michael Lane Potter

Michael Lane Potter, 72, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. He was preceded in death by his son and best friend, Matthew Potter; mother, Freda Potter; granddaughter, Emerson Lane Cecil; and grandmother, Cora Felts Potter.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Potter; daughter, Ashley Cecil (Matt); daughter-in-law, Dawn Potter; grandchildren, Brandon Potter, Cole Cecil, Reese Cecil, and Kennedy Potter; and numerous other family members and friends.

The family will have a Visitation on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 11:00 -1:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019; followed by a Memorial Service (also at Simpson’s) at 1:00pm with Pastor Aaron Tunnell officiating. A Celebration of Life Gathering for friends and family will take place after the service from 2:00-5:00pm at The Hangout, 7717 Williamson Road, Roanoke, VA 24019.
