Joyce Carolyn Mason

Joyce Carolyn Mason, 83, of Lynchburg, VA passed away February 4, 2026 at home.

Born in Shepherdsville, KY, a daughter of the late Oscar Hilton and Jimmie Lee Hilton. Joyce was an employee of TSG and a devoted member of Lighthouse Foursquare Church.

Joyce was a hard-working Christian woman who will be remembered and celebrated for her love for God and family. She spent a lot of her time in devotions, studying and cherishing the bible and left that lasting mark within her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herschel Mason; six siblings; and two sons-in-law, Gary Hoffman and John Banton.

Joyce is survived by her five children, Todd Baunach, Danette Hoffman, Robbie Baunach, Michele Putney and Tammy Banton; eleven grandchildren, Bobby Baunach, Cari, Tanya, Cory and Craig Hoffman, Kellie and Johnny Baunach, Cara Little, Natalie Putney, and Kayla and Kinsey Banton; seventeen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a former daughter-in-law, Penny Baunach, along with a former son-in-law, Paul Putney, who were still a beloved part of her life.

Per the family’s wishes, a private funeral will be held to celebrate her life.
