William "Bill" A. Kidwell

William Avery “Bill” Kidwell, age 89 of Rocky Mount passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026. Bill was born in Kentucky, the only son of Myrtle Arnold and William Avery Kidwell. He had three sisters: Betty Jean Kidwell (deceased), Barbara Kidwell Braun (deceased) and Linda Kidwell Aubrey (Bob).Bill and Suzanne Forman were married on March 24, 1962. They had three children: William Forman, Timothy Dale (deceased) and Laura Kidwell Jones (Stuart). Also surviving are three grandsons: Avery Nathan Jones (Cailin), Aaron Kennedy Jones and Thaddeus Heath Jones.Bill served in the U.S. Navy as a submariner. He then served out his career with the Federal Government. He and his family served in Ethiopia, Okinawa, Cyprus, Turkey, Jordan and Northern Virginia.Bill retired in 1989 and he and Suzanne moved to Rocky Mount. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, bred and trained bird dogs, guided hunts, taught hunter safety classes and worked with the NWTF. Another interest that brought endless challenges and discoveries was bee keeping.A memorial service will be held at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026 with Rev. Will Waller officiating. A reception will follow in the church atrium.
