Gary L. Shively

Gary L. Shively, age 67 of Ferrum died Monday, February 9, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born June 4, 1958 in Rocky Mount, VA the son of Coy T. and Altrude R. Shively.Gary graduated from Franklin County High School in 1976. He was employed at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for over 40 years and was a founding member of the Franklin County Blue Knights Motorcycle Club. He served on the boards of the Ferrum Fire Department and the Ferrum Rescue Squad. His hobbies included attending music events, watching volleyball, walking, but most of all any activity involving his grandchildren.Gary is survived by his sweetheart of 43 years, Beth (Quinlan) Shively; sons, Garrett Shively (Kaitlin) and Walker Shively (Nichole), both of Franklin County; three grandchildren, Coy, Olivia and Sophia; and three very special adopted grandchildren, Taelynn Williamson, Nate Moeller and Samatha Moeller.Visitation will be held at Flora Funeral Service 5-8 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2026.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ferrum Fire Department or the Franklin County High School Volleyball program (Franklin County Booster Club, Attention: Laura Anderson, 2490 Goose Dam Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 or Venmo: FC Volleyball@FCVB-25).
