Shelby Moats Goode

Shelby Moats Goode, 84, of Covington, died Monday, February 9, 2026 at her residence.

She was born April 12, 1941 in Covington, a daughter of the late Julian and Laura Wolfe Moats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny E. Goode in 2014; and a sister, Barbara Cadd.

Shelby worked for many years as a retail clerk at Cato’s and the former Leggett’s department store in Covington.

Surviving is her daughter, Debra (Charley) Morrison of Covington; nieces Christy (Kenny) Gunter of Covington and Pam (Joe) Snead of Garner, NC; and several great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Warren officiating. The family will receive their friends from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.

Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park.
