Jerry William Shropshire

Mr. Jerry William Shropshire, age 75, of Dobson, won his battle with cancer on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. He was born May 28, 1950, in Charleston WV, to the late Jess Martin Shropshire and the late Percy Mae Easter Shropshire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Richard Marion.Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 57 years and 3 months, Bonnie Sue Hutson Shropshire; his sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Ticy Shropshire, and Anthony “Woody” and Amber Shropshire; grandchildren, Dawson Shropshire, Aiden Shropshire (Chloe), and Korbyn Shropshire; and a nephew, Ricky Marion. Mr. Shropshire was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served his community as a Patrol Sergeant for the Mount Airy Police Department, a sworn officer for the Surry County Sheriffs Department, a police officer for Surry Community College, worked as a jailer in the Mocksville prison, was a paramedic for Surry County, and was known for singing and playing guitar in several bands.Visitation will be Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 PM, at The Community Church. Services will begin at 2:00 PM, in the church with Rev. Danny Peyton and Rev. Travis Seachrist officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
