Ruby Mae Wilkes

Ruby Mae Cox Wilkes, 82, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John Wilkes; parents, Raymond and Nellie Cox; brothers, Herman Cox, Johnny Cox, and James Cox; and sisters, Leona Cox Nolan and Ola Cox Painter.

Ruby is survived by her children, Tim Wilkes (Becky), Rob Wilkes (Carlene), and Tina Reid (Vance); grandchildren, Holly Wilkes (Sam) and Brandon Wilkes; sister, Louise Cox Stacy (Clyde); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will have a Chapel Service on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 12:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019 with Pastor Jimmy Pentecost officiating. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Ruby’s family would like to express their gratitude to many friends and family along with Hospice (ACG), Cheryl Rakes (Brandon Oaks at Home), and Cardinal Senior Living for their support during this difficult time.
