Michael Lee Little, Sr.

May 15, 1957 - January 23, 2026

Michael Lee Little, Sr., 68, of Penhook, Virginia, and formerly of Fairmont, West Virginia, passed away on January 23, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving wife, Shirley Ann (Daniels) Little, and family, following an extended illness.

Born on May 15, 1957, in Fairmont, WV, to the late Albert Lee White, Sr. and Billie Jo Little, Michael graduated from Barrackville High School in 1976. He moved to Vallejo, California, where he embraced ministry, serving as a deacon, elder, and California Western Ecclesiastical Jurisdictional Evangelist at Shiloh Church of God In Christ.

Michael returned to West Virginia in 2004, pastoring Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren and Good Hope Baptist Church, and later served as Pastor of Penhook Fellowship Church in Virginia.

Michael served as Chaplain at Ferrum College since 2023. In this role, Michael was deeply committed to nurturing the spiritual growth and well-being of students, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to students, faculty and staff, and creating a welcoming environment on campus where faith and learning could flourish. His presence at Ferrum College enriched campus life, leaving a lasting legacy of care, wisdom, and dedication to the College community.

He and Shirley married in 2004 and celebrated 21 years together in December 2025. Michael is survived by his wife; his children Tyrone Echols and Grace Little; his mother, Billie Jo Little Moss; his extended blended family, including Damita Borden Jones, Melvin Borden, and Dana Borden Johnson. Michael is also survived by a large and loving extended family. He is remembered by his brothers: Gordy Little, Jamie Little, Rodney Little, Marcus White, Albert White, Jr., Robert White and his wife Lisa, Rory White, Damien White, Linzo “Buster” White and his wife Ku’Shaye, Nathaniel White, Tim Simmons, and Keith Simmons. His sisters include Antonette “Toni” Little, Diane Little King, Sharisse White Baker, Karen Waters and her husband Warnell, Elisha White, and Yolanda Dawan. Each family member contributed to the rich tapestry of Michael’s life, providing support and companionship throughout his journey. He is remembered for his unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and dedication to service.

A memorial service, open to the community, will be held at Vaughn Chapel, Ferrum College, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 1 p.m., with friends received afterward at the Stratton House on campus. The family sincerely appreciates the support and kind messages received during this difficult time.
