Robert "Bob" Weddle Camper

Robert Weddle Camper (Bob), age 90 of Blacksburg, died Monday, February 9, 2026. He was born on March 9, 1935, in Montgomery County, VA, to the late Robert Alexander and Virginia Weddle Camper. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Matthew Camper. Bob grew up in Blacksburg, where he was a standout football player for Blacksburg High School. After high school, Bob entered the Air Force. He was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he was a star player for the Air Force football team. After serving 4 years, he returned to Blacksburg and married Bertha Jane Robinson. Bob worked at Radford Army Ammunition Plant for 40 years. Bob enjoyed Virginia Tech sports and was a huge Washington Redskins fan. Bob is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Brian and Tania Koel Camper, two beautiful granddaughters, Karis Alexander Camper, who he loved to watch dance, and Kadyn Caroline Camper, who excelled at softball and is currently playing college softball in Florida. Bob is also survived by a special friend with whom he spent his later years, Norma Wiles, and loved her daughters, Andrea, Karen, and son, Josh. A visitation will be held on March 3, 2026, from 5-7 pm at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, VA.
