Homer Lee Griffith
Homer Lee Griffith, age 77 of Rocky Mount, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 17, 2026 surrounded by those who loved him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family.He was born February 7, 1949, the son of the late Homer Thomas Griffith and Ora Blanche MountCastle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Chaney and Goldie Hale.Lee proudly served in the United States Army from March 10, 1969 to September 27, 1974. His time in the military built qualities he carried throughout his life. This gave him a sense of duty, strength, and commitment.He had a special place in his heart for children. Whether it was his own, his grandchildren, or any child who crossed his path. He had a way of making them feel seen, valued, and safe.Lee was the kind of man who showed up. Every time. If you needed him, he was there. No questions asked. He leaves behind a family who will forever carry his lessons, his love, and his example in their hearts. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for 77 years of a life well lived and well loved.He was also a proud lifetime member of the Greater Roanoke Area USBC (bowling). He enjoyed the sport and the friendships he built over the 40+ years. The bowling community brought him countless great memories. He also dedicated 20+ years of working with the youth through bowling.Lee leaves behind a wife of 47 years, Laura Griffith; two daughters, Bambi Marshall and Misty (Chip) Anglin; one son, Dustin (April) Griffith; five grandchildren, Damien Milton, Stormie and Coalton Anglin, Madison and Tyler Griffith; two great-grandchildren, Julian Jones and Jacqueline Milton. He also leaves behinds two sisters, Tina Hall and Barbara Shively; and one brother-in-law, Jimmy Hale (Goldie).In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rocky Mount Youth Bowling League (1555 N Main St, Rocky Mount, VA 24151) or the Redwood United Methodist Church Warming Shelter (3001 Old Franklin Tpke, Rocky Mount, VA 24151).Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2026 with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountcastle Family Cemetery.
