John Coy Vernon

John has passed after a long and hard-fought illness on February 20, 2026, in Bethesda, Maryland to the late, Bobby and Margaret Vernon.

John leaves behind his devoted wife of 42 years, Sandra Vernon; two sons, Jonathan Vernon (Jessie) and Andrew Vernon (Casey); three cherished grandchildren, Bella, Jackson and Scarlett; two brothers, Dennis and Robert and three sisters, Barbara Page, Wanda Vernon and Lisa Vernon. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

John was known for always being there for everyone, even through his illness. From mowing and fixing vehicles, to resolving issues around the home, plus much more. He was always there when someone was in need.

John had a passion for caring for children. He was a loving and devoted grandfather to his beloved grandchildren. He was dedicated and valued as a school bus driver at HCPS. He found joy taking vacations, cruises and going away with Sandra to their mountain gateway to find peace.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Day Star Ministries. Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Day Star Ministries, 6387 Virginia Ave, Bassett, VA 24055 with Pastors Chris Robertson and Gary Sebastian officiating.
