Richard C. Jones

Richard Chapman Jones, 83, husband of Jo Anna Richards Jones, went to be with the LORD on Monday, February 23, 2026 at his home. He was the son of the late Chapman and Gloria Swanson Baber Jones. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Divis and Rosa E. Richards; a sister, Mary Mae Smith; a brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Helen Jones.

He was a retired Engineer from Norfolk Southern Railroad with 39 years of service.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, Jo Anna Jones, he will be missed and remembered by his children, Richard C. Jones, II, Steven M. Jones (Jenni), and Gregory S. Jones (Alicia); grandchildren, Ashlee M. Jones Haley (Jeremy), Alexander M. Jones (Anna), Cameron S. Jones, Tyler L. Jones, Kylie M. Jones, Jordan T. Jones; great-grandson, Elijah Zayne Haley; brothers, Ronald L. Jones (Margaret), and Charles Jones; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and James Stultz; cousin, Wanda Lee Jones; nephews, Michael Jones and James Jones; nieces, Tina Jones Worley, and Teresa Jones.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Simpson Funeral Home, 3912 Electric Road. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton.
