Dana Shelton Lackey
Dana Shelton Lackey, 57, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Dana is survived by her loving husband, Wendell Lackey; children, Jessica Brown and Kayla Howie (Josh); grandchildren, Joseph Brown, Michael Howie, Samuel Howie, and Wyatt Howie; parents, Jim and Gail Shelton; and brother, Kevin Shelton.
Dana adored her grandsons and cherished the time that she spent with them. She became proficient at the video games that she learned how to play with them, stemming from a desire to have a shared interest and spend fun time with them. Dana’s grandsons affectionately referred to her as “Granny” and were always excited to come visit her.
Dana was a beautiful, smart, caring, and talented lady who enjoyed and excelled at many crafts and hobbies, such as making soaps and candles, jewelry making, working with her plants and aquarium, and other hobbies through the years.
Dana faced many health challenges during her lifetime. She maintained a sweet spirit through all of them, drawing strength from her deep and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dana loved and cared for her family and was a great help in many ways to each family member if a need arose.
Dana will be greatly missed by all her friends and family, whose lives she touched with so much joy and happiness.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Shenandoah Baptist Church, 6520 Williamson Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. Interment will follow at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.
