Sterling Conner Martin
Sterling “Tunnie” Conner Martin, 84, of Red House Road, Appomattox went to her heavenly home on February 25, 2026. She is now rejoicing with Jesus and family and is no longer blind.
Sterling was born in Halifax County, Virginia on December 13, 1941, the daughter of the late Charlie and Lena Conner and the wife of the late Edward (Ed) Martin. She was also preceded in death by a son, Rodney Wayne Martin, a sister, Gladys Johnson and a brother, Ray Conner, Sr.
She is survived by a nephew, Ray Conner, Jr. of Appomattox and a niece, Peggy Love of Wilsons, VA that she thought of as a son and daughter and were her pride and joy; a niece-in-law, Pam Conner that loved her dearly and would do anything for her, and many other nephews and nieces and one sister-in-law.
The family would like to thank Sterling’s caregivers, Monique Hawson, Shan Eubands, and Centra Hospice for their loving care.
She was a member of Clearview Baptist Church in Rustburg and a homemaker. Sterling loved so many things in life that would put a smile on her face, like family and friends coming to see her. She loved to cook like her mama and loved her flowers. Most importantly she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was faithful going to church until her health would not allow.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, March 2, 2026, at Central Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Jeff Worley.
The family will receive friends at her residence after the service.
