Ann Key Cruise
Mrs. Ann Key Cruise, 83, of Ararat, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday morning, March 9, 2026. She lived a life marked with faith, dedication to family, and service to her church and community. Born and raised in a Christian home, she was the daughter of a devoted minister who instilled in her a deep love for the Lord from an early age. That foundation of faith remained the guiding light throughout her life. On October 29, 1960, she married the love of her life, James Wade Cruise. Their marriage was a beautiful testimony of devotion and partnership, and together they built a loving home where the Lord blessed them with three children. She spent many years working at Cross Creek Apparel, where she was known for her strong work ethic and kindness toward those she worked alongside. Her greatest joy, however, was serving the Lord. A faithful Christian, she dedicated much of her life to the church. Music held a special place in her heart, and she faithfully served in the music ministry for many years as an organist and choir member. Through her talents and dedication, she helped lead many in worship and praise. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and her servant’s heart. Her life touched many, and her legacy of faith and devotion will continue to live on through those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Wade Cruise; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darla and Stanley Scott and Melinda and Ronnie Hull; a son, Darren Cruise; five grandchildren, Jared Scott, Austin Scott and his wife, Molly, Madison Cruise, Marissa Hull, and Carrie Cruise; two great-grandchildren, Charles William “Charlie” Scott and Marlee Jean Scott; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Gilmer and Judy Key and Linda Key; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cruise was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Davis Leonard and Mamie Sue McHone Key; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Billy Smith and Frances and Bobby Nichols; and a brother, Wayne Key. A service of worship and celebration of Ann’s life will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Highland Park Baptist Church, with Dr. Jim Richland officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, Memorial Bible Program, P.O.
