Loretta Keyser
Loretta Faye Dame Keyser, 86, of Covington, Virginia passed away peaceably on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
She was born on April 16, 1939 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late Bernard Dame and Aleene Marie Sorells Dame (Revercomb), graduated from Covington High School, and was married to Robert “Donnie” Keyser of Covington at Christ United Methodist Church in Covington, Virginia for almost 50 years.
She moved to Florida with her family and worked as a Head Start aide as well as a vision and hearing technician. She was also an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and enjoyed participating in community service. She returned to Covington, Virginia with her husband and worked at Boys Home of Virginia for 8 years, her true calling in life, before she retired.
Loretta was devoted and loving to her family and generous and loyal to her friends. She embodied an adventurous spirit, loved to shop, enjoyed life, and touched all who knew her with kindness and love.
Loretta is survived by a daughter, Donna Bush, a son-in-law, Jason Bush, two grandchildren, John Mitchell and Sandy Mitchell, both of South Carolina, a sister and brother-in-law, William “Bill” and Libby Keyser of Covington, two sisters-in-law, Freda Powell of Roanoke and Sharon Hawkins of Covington, a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Theresa Powell of Roanoke; and two dear friends, Lucy Cook of Panama City, FL and Ina Henderson of Covington, with whom she shared many adventures.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge officiated by Reverend Doug Hollenbeck. Interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be Jason Bush, Reggie Gibbs, Chad Whitmer, Glen Hawkins, and John Mitchell. The family will receive friends and family the evening of Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
