Ruby Holley Davis

May 24, 1935 - March 14, 2026

Ruby Holley Davis, 90, of Danville VA passed away on March 14, 2026. She was born on May 24, 1935 in Charlotte Courthouse, VA, a daughter of the late Lonnie Watson Holley and Laura Alice Doss Holley. She was raised at the Presbyterian Orphanage Home in Lynchburg, VA from the age of eight to sixteen due to her parents untimely deaths.

On February 4, 1952, she married William Carter Davis who predeceased her on June 19, 2000. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers; Harvey Holley, Earlie Holley, Herman (Billy) Holley, and Sammy Holley; and four sisters; Lula H. Mihler, Reva H. Myers, Francis H. Griffin, and Hazel H. Rose.

Ruby was a member of Welcome Baptist Church for 50 years where she attended regularly until her health wouldn’t allow. She retired from her beloved K-Mart retail store after 31 years of dedicated service. She read her Bible every day and enjoyed doing word search puzzles. Her favorite TV programs were Lets Make a Deal, Price is Right, and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed watching many Westerns she could find on as well as old sitcoms on Me-TV.

She is survived by her children; Donnie Davis (Susan), Mike Davis (Jennifer), and Ken Davis (Lisa). She is also survived by three grandchildren; Kristy Davis, Matt Davis (Mallory), and John Davis and two great granddaughters; Mia Davis and Chloe Davis.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by a brother; George (Dick) Holley (Barbara) of Petersburg, VA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. The family would like to specially thank her dear niece, Betty Jean Woodson for all of her love and kindness she had shown Ruby throughout her life, Ruby especially enjoyed them getting together every Saturday and going out to eat.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her neighbors, Keith Shelton, Gary and Betty Jackson, and Calvin and Sherita and their family. They also would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Commonwealth Hospice, especially her nurse, Laura Swift.

The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Danville/ Pittsylvania County Cancer Association at 223 Riverview Drive, Suite J, Danville, VA, 24541 or to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 2:00pm at Norris West End Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Jeff Woods officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 1-2:00pm, also at Norris West End Chapel. At other times the family will receive friends and family at the residence of her son, Mike Davis at 1649 Horseshoe Road, Danville, VA 24541.
