Maxine Cline Blankenship

April 2, 1933 - March 16, 2026

Maxine Cline Blankenship, of Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 16, 2026. She was 92 years old.
Maxine was born in Richlands, Va., to the late Tom Cline and Elsie Marie Harris on Sunday, April 2, 1933. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Cline; her second husband, Lloyd "Buzz" Blankenship; son, David Cline; stepmother, Ada Cupp; brothers, Jerry Cline and Wayne Cline; sisters, Geneva Lyons and Betty Dixon; and granddaughter, Vickie Golden.
Maxine lived a life rooted in faith, love, and kindness. She was a member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church, where she found fellowship and joy alongside her church family. Maxine was very much a graceful lady. She had an infectious smile and loved to laugh, spreading joy wherever she went. Those who loved Maxine couldn't help but love her sweet sense of humor as well. She loved to relax at the beach and take in the scenic views. Maxine also loved to feed the birds, taking in the beauty of nature and caring for God's precious creation. She had a talent for quilting and sewing, taking pride in the beautiful pieces she created. She was instrumental in organizing church craft bazaars and enjoyed being part of their quilting bee. Her heart for children was beautiful to see, and Maxine was always ready to lend a hand and babysit. Everyone around Maxine was touched by her kind spirit and love, and she will be deeply missed, most of all by her beloved family.
Left to cherish Maxine's memory are her son, Tommy Cline (Becky); sister, Judy Booth; grandchildren, Jerry Cline (Heather), John Cline, and Scott Cline (Ashley); great-grandchildren, James Matney, Alana Matney, Anthony Cline, and Marcelo Vicente; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
The family will welcome friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ben Lockhart officiating. Interment immediately following in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
