David Andrew Rockwell

After a courageous battle with cancer, David Andrew Rockwell, 54 of Moneta, was called home on March 19, 2026.  He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Rockwell and special friend, Ed Moore.

He retired from US Pipe after 32 ½ years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying everything from fishing, hunting, and tinkering. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. He loved his family and friends and riding his Harley with his brothers was one of his greatest treasures. He had such a big heart for everyone, and his smile could light up a room.

Left to honor his memory, is his high school sweetheart and wife of 30 years, Lori Rockwell; son, Cody Rockwell and daughter-in-law, Amanda Rockwell; precious grandson, Easton; mother, Patricia Rockwell; brother, Gene Rockwell; sisters, Beth Balazik (John) and Cindy Harold; mother-in-law, & father-in-law, Sonny & Bessie Rader; sister-in-law & brother- in-law, Dawn Thurman (Winston); numerous nieces, nephews & special friends “The Core 4”.

We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Karri and Dr. Dempah and all of the wonderful oncology nurses at Lewis Gale who treated us like family.  Also thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for their care of David. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Vernon DeLong officiating.  Interment will follow in Radford Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford
