Anna Raether-Hill

Anna Elizabeth (Johnson) Raether-Hill, age 88. died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 23, 2026, at her daughter's residence. Anna was born September 15, 1937, to the late Ervy W. Johnson and Lenice Curry Johnson in Warren County, VA. Anna enjoyed her favorite pastimes of painting, singing and playing spoons. She also very much enjoyed her fishing adventures with her husband and adventures to Tennessee as well as with her grandchildren. During her working career, Anna was a postal worker for Covington Post Office for a number of years. After retirement, she worked at Kmart Cafeteria up until its closing. Anna was a kind soul who never met a stranger and to the younger generation, she was everyone's grandma. Anna is survived by her loving husband, Aubrey Clark Hill; two daughters, Joan Sizemore (Gary) of Low Moor, VA and Barbara Gum (Jim) of Covington, VA; two sons, John Broy, Sr. (Malissa) of Covington and Mark Raether (Shaun) of Clifton Forge, VA; eleven grandchildren, Angela Hague (Joe), Robert Webb (Katrina), Jessica Laviolette (Alex), Dakota Sizemore, Amy Tinsley (Earl), Terri Laing (Amanda), Jason Raether, Josh Raether, Nick Raether, John Broy, Jr. and Sierra Greenway (Jay). She also had numerous great grandchildren and great -great grandchildren. Anna was preceded in death by her sister, Doris "Jean" Clatterbuck and brother, Austin Johnson, both of Front Royal, VA; a son, Michael Lee Raether; and a grandson, Dennis Dean Laing, Jr. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. March 26, 2026, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Jay Greenway officiating. Interment will follow in Sizemore Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Dustin Miller, Terri Laing, Joshua Wooldridge, Robert Webb, Alex Laviolette and Dakota Sizemore.
