Naomi Cole Cornell

Naomi Cole Cornell, 82, of Chatham, VA passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Gretna Health and Rehab, Gretna, VA. Mrs. Cornell was born June 14, 1943, in Danville, VA to the late Edna Hooker Cole and the late Luther Cole. She was married to the late Jerry Wayne Cornell, who predeceased her on January 11, 2025.

Mrs. Cornell worked for CIT Group as a bookkeeper for many years, prior to her retirement. She is survived by her sons, Joe Cornell (Darlene) and Todd Cornell (DeAnna); sister Deloris Murphy; brother-in-law Ronald Cornell (Judy); grandchildren, Katie (Jacob), Lauren (John), Andyn, Zander, and Elizabeth, as well as great-grandchildren, Liam, Landry, Lynden, Micah, and Charlotte Jo.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a son, Anthony Wayne; sisters, Dixie Cole, Ruby Isom, Helen Watlington, and Doris Guill, and several brothers-in-law.

A graveside service to honor Mrs. Cornell’s life will be held at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Rick Markham.
