Johnny William Ashburn

Mr. Johnny William Ashburn, age 71 of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Ashburn was born on May 1, 1954, in Surry County to the late Marvin and Lucy Lillian Haynes Ashburn. Johnny was a loving husband, godfather, god grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving is his wife, Janet Sue Semones Ashburn; godchildren, Faith Boles and Issic, Walker Hall, Chelsie Hall; god grandchildren, McKayla Boles, Sadie Boles; a sister and brother-in-law, Gracie Ashburn Martin and Ronnie; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sue and Phillip McCraw; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jason and Teresa Semones; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ashburn was preceded in death by a sister, Polly Lee Ashburn Worrell. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Reverend Ronnie Chamblin, Jr. and Reverend Aubre Casstevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
