Gay Fleming Blackburn

Mrs. Willa Gay Fleming Blackburn, age 86, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born on May 28, 1939 in Surry County to the late William and Julia White Fleming Lawrence. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Anita Bowman, Shannon Prince (Frank); grandchildren, April Roberson (Josh), Ashley and Cody Bowman, Morgan and Caitlin Prince; great-grandchildren, Tayvin, Declan, Derek, and Amelia; sisters, Polly Inman, Nancy Paul, Debbie Hiatt, brother, Bud Fleming (May). In addition to her parents Mrs. Blackburn was preceded in death by her husband, Denzel Jay Blackburn, brother, Jimmy Fleming, brothers-in-law, Taylor Inman, JD Paul, and Gilmer Hiatt. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
