Cecil Raynell Payne Holley

Cecil Raynell Payne Holley, 79, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026 surrounded by her family. Raynell was born in Danville, VA on October 20, 1946 to the late Sandrell Shelton Payne and the late David Daniel Payne. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Mr. Beverley Daniel Holley Sr.

Raynell was of the Christian Faith and attended Marion Baptist Church. She worked for 36 years as a school teacher at Tunstall High School, previous to her retirement. She was also a sponsor of the cheerleading squad. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Raynell is survived by a son, Danny Holley (Jennifer) of Chatham, VA, a daughter, April Taylor (David) of Durham, NC, a sister, Irene McDowell, and five grandchildren, Jacob (Hailey), Alex, Kloe, Bryson, and Aidan.

In addition to her parents, Raynell was predeceased by a bother, Winston Taylor, and two sisters, Darnell McNichols and Suzie Wylie.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 2:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Dr. Hank Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park, Chatham, VA. A visitation will be held on the same day, prior to the service from 1-2:00pm, also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA.
