Peggy Watson Tyree

Peggy Watson Tyree, 94, of Madison Heights, VA passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

Born on February 7, 1932, she was the only daughter of the late Rudolph Owen Watson and Mildred Cyrus Watson. Peggy Graduated from E.C. Glass High School and retired from General Electric after 32 years. She was a member of Marsh Memorial Methodist Church but began regularly attending Temple Baptist Church with her family in recent years.

Peggy was an avid animal lover. She would meet with friends every Thursday at the local Food Lion to feed stray cats and would also visit the Amherst Humane society to donate food, blankets and supplies to the animals in need. Peggy loved having her family all together and spending time with them. Her family has fond memories of her spending time with them watching sports games, particularly baseball and basketball. She was a die hard fan of the New York Yankees baseball team and the Golden State Warriors basketball team.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband and father of her children, Richard William Tyree.

Peggy leaves behind her beloved children, Richard Owen Tyree (Patricia) and Darlene Tyree-Allgood (Donnie); four grandchildren, Daniel Allgood, Christie Torrence, Crystal Holt and Tabitha Tyree; six great grandchildren, one of which, Ava Tyree, became her little pride and joy as they spent so much time together through the years; her beloved cat and poodle, “Grey Cat” and “Watson”; and her caregiver and friend, Deborah Grisetti.

A funeral celebrating Peggy’s life will be held at Whitten Monelison Chapel at 11:00 am on Friday, April 24, 2026 with Mike Miller officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 23, 2024 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
