Doyle Lane Underwood
Doyle Lane Underwood, 60, of Woolwine, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina on Saturday, April 18, 2026, after battling pancreatic cancer. Doyle was born on January 4, 1966, to the late Gilbert and Estelle Underwood and grew up in Bassett. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Roop, and brother-in-law, Harvey Roop; his father-in-law, Joe Belcher, and mother-in-law, Vera Belcher; along with one brother-in-law, Leon Belcher, and beloved dog Booger. Doyle is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Mary Grace Belcher Underwood; his son Joey Belcher and daughter-in-law, Amanda. He is also survived by his brother Gerald Underwood and sister-in-law, Marie Underwood; one sister-in-law Rita Belcher; nieces, Andrea Amos and husband, Mike, Misty Belcher and husband, Jeff; nephews, Adam Roop and wife, Alicia, Brenton Underwood and wife, Paige, Zach Belcher and wife, Melissa; great nephews, Parker Roop and his girlfriend, Kendra Worley, Grant Underwood, Barrett Underwood, Rowan Underwood and great niece Lynnox Underwood; and his adored, loyal and treasured dog Max. Doyle was employed with Coca-Cola Distributing and could always be found at Food Lion and other stores in Floyd and surrounding areas, delivering and stocking product. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and was rebaptized last year. Doyle was a genuine, sweet soul that adored and loved his family and leaves behind cherished memories of fun times, love, and laughter. Service and interment will be held at Sycamore Baptist Church, 179 Sycamore Church Road, Stuart, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday afternoon. Pastor Shaun Draughn and his cousin, Rev. Dr. J.D. Harmon, will be officiating. Pallbearers will be his son Joey Belcher and nephews Adam Roop, Parker Roop, Mike Amos, Zach Belcher and Jeff Kaufmann. Honorary pallbearer will be his brother, Gerald Underwood.
