Ted Mason Woody

August 6, 1949 - April 18, 2026

Ted Mason Woody, Sr., 76, of Lynchburg passed away on Saturday April 18, 2026. He was the son of the late Malcom Preston Woody and Louise Cox Woody.

Born August 6, 1949, Ted was a devoted and passionate man who found great joy in the people and pursuits he loved. He cherished his family deeply and held a special place in his heart for his dogs, whom he adored and cared for almost more affectionately than everyone else.

Ted was an avid bass fisherman, happiest when casting a line wherever he could, most especially along the Outer Banks, a place he returned to time and again. He had a keen eye for antiques and a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship and potential of older items, often seeing value where others might not.

He also had a lifelong love of motorcycles, particularly Harley-Davidsons, and embraced any opportunity to be outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Ted’s presence, warmth, and enthusiasm for life will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Ted’s memory include his children Gwen Woody Starling and her husband Joe, Ted Mason “Chip” Woody, Jr. and his girlfriend Audelee; his grandchildren Ryan Starling, Karlee Pendleton and her husband Trey; his great-grandchild Briggs Pendleton and a baby girl on the way; and his siblings Kenneth Woody and his wife Ann and Bonnie Buchanan.
