DORIS GAY BRADSHAW, 76, of Bland, VA, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026, at her home. She was born July 19, 1949 in Bluefield, West Virginia, the daughter of the late James Harvey & Myrtle Wright Williams. Doris was a past member of Shady Grove Community Church. She retired from Bland Correctional Center where she served as a Food Service Supervisor for many years. She loved dancing and posting on Facebook. She was an avid UVA sports fan and loved watching Westerns. Doris loved spending time with her family. She especially loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed her beach trips with her kids and sister and her shopping trips with her granddaughter. Most of all, she enjoyed having the family together. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, James Harvey & Myrtle Claire Wright Williams, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank, Sr. & Barbara Cooper Bradshaw, and her siblings, Paul, Preston, David, Jimmy, Pearl, Reba, Elizabeth and Wilma. Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted family; her loving husband of 57 years, Woodson (“Woody”) Bradshaw; her son & daughter-in-law, Dallas & Bridget Bradshaw; her daughter & fiancé, Rebecca Wynegar and Edward Hodges; her beloved grandchildren, Oak Bradshaw, Beau Bradshaw, Troy Bradshaw and Keri Wynegar & fiancé Alex Chewning; her beloved sister, Judy Elmore; her sisters-in-law, Juanita Thompson, Yvonne Haase, Sue Williams and Freda Williams and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 24, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Dr. Travis Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until service time, 4:00 P.M. The Bradshaw family is in the care of A.
