Walter Douglas Street

Walter Douglas Street, 74, of Bassett, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Stanleytown Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born on March 23, 1952, to the late Paul Street and Ida Bell Norman Street. Walter was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence brought warmth and strength to those around him.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Renita Street; his children, Tammy Dove, Danielle Loving, YeAira Wells, Walter Street Jr., and Tyler Hairston; and his treasured grandchildren, Maya Dove, Mevin Dove III, Jaqueze Hairston, Layla Wells, and Zola Wells. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda S. Sykes and Mary L. Robinson, and his brothers, Richard D. Street, James A. Street, and Don Street.

Walter was a faithful member of Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he found great joy in fellowship and service.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service. The family will receive friends a half hour prior to the service.

Walter Douglas Street will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
