Mary Turner Amos

September 15, 1951 - April 24, 2026

Mary Turner Amos, 74, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 24, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on September 15, 1951, to the late Margaret Hiatt Turner and Thomas Turner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Amos; and brother, Charles Edward “Buck” Turner.

Mary is survived by her loving family: her sisters, Betty Gordon of Martinsville, Virginia, Anne Stewart of Bassett, Virginia, and Ida Thurman of Spencer, Virginia; her daughter and son-in-law, Tonya Estores and Romeo Estores of Hillsboro, Oregon; and her cherished grandchildren, Isabel Estores and Isaac Estores, also of Hillsboro, Oregon.

Mary was a devoted member of the Patrick County Master Gardener Association. She found great joy in tending to her garden, taking long walks on the beach, caring for her cats, hunting for sales, and spending time on her farm—especially driving around on her Gator.

A remembrance service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Norris Funeral Services Stuart Chapel. The visitation will be held an hour prior to the service.
