Carolyn K. Byrd

Carolyn K. Byrd, 83, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026.

She was born to the late Paul Kenney and Nelva Bailey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Byrd, and her son, David “Andy” Byrd.

Carolyn leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her daughter, Sandy Weaver (Brian); grandchildren, Joshua Byrd (Molli), Daniel Greer, Donna Hines, Olivia Byrd, and Hannah Byrd; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Hattie Byrd, Jameson Greer, Amelia Hundley, Willow Hines, Rylan Hines, Lily Hines, Aela Hines, and Astrid Byrd. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Donnie Byrd (Anita); sisters-in-law, Kathryn Byrd and LouAnn Fulks (Bryan); and her lifelong best friend, Virginia “Ginny” Lee Foxwell.

Carolyn was a devoted member of Fort Trial Baptist Church, where she deeply loved her church family. She found great joy in crafts, participating in church groups—especially ladies’ lunches—and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Carolyn dedicated 43 years of service to Bassett Furniture Industries, where she was known for her strong work ethic and commitment.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 12:00 noon, with visitation one hour prior, at Bassett Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Henry Memorial Park. Rev. Tony Beach will officiate.

Carolyn will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, and the love she shared so generously with family and friends.
