George Lee Weikel

February 6, 1943 - April 30, 2026

George Lee Weikel, 83, passed away on April 30, 2026. He was born on February 6, 1943, and grew up in the Fox Hill area of Hampton, Virginia.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Lee Weikel, Jr. and Eva Mae Rowe Weikel.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Rita Karen Mayhill Weikel; and his children and their families: Barbara Lynn (Jeff) and their children, Hannah (Tyler) and Madison (Kevin), along with great-grandchildren Millie and Cooper; Stacey and her children, Ethan, Olivia, and Mia; Holly (Barrett) and their children, Nicholas and Daniel; Stepson Jonathan (Stacy) and their children, Brandon and Tyler.

George was a successful businessman and leader in life. He leaves a legacy of friendships and devotion to his loved ones. He was intelligent, personable, and never met a stranger. His presence naturally drew people in, and his sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A gifted athlete, George was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame as an outfielder for the legendary Fox Hill fast-pitch softball team, the F&M Bankers.

He was also an avid golfer who organized an annual golf trip with his friends. Over the years, he had the opportunity to golf all over the country.

Above all, George was a devoted Christian whose faith guided his life. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
